Actually went paddle boarding instead of surfing due to time constraints and salty experiences were very accommodating to swap activity. Guide Oscar was a great teacher . It was a relaxed and fun experience. I would highly recommend.

I am a surfer and my son also likes to learn surfing, so when we were in Portugal, I found this team on TripAdvisor - to train my son. The surf instructors are patient and nice and also experienced. There is a good beginner surf spot and you can also rent boards and wet suits for a reasonable price.

Two nice instructors for a reasonable group size (8).
For a first try, 2 hours is enough.
My girlfriend went to paddle board tour at the same on the lagoon, which was also a nice activity.

Booked the evening before the day I was interested for group Surf, got a message over WhatsApp in the morning to confirm the time. Met at their beach school location (Surf Club Faro) in the afternoon with mostly Portuguese learners. Felt very organized for a first-time surfer, they're able to communicate in English. The water was cold on an occasionally drizzling December day but OK with the wetsuit. Bringing sandals could be nice for the walk across the street but not necessary. I was split off with 3 other first-timers & they had us catch waves one at a time after we warmed up and practiced a few moves on the sand. There were other instructors and higher level students in the water, felt safe & the waves were decent for practice.Great experience, could really see spending a few days coming back to get better.
