Ria Formosa Natural Park
Embark on board a confortable pontoon boat.
In the company of a nature tour guide, on this boat trip you will discover why Ria Formosa was elected one of the 7 Natural Wonders of Portugal. And because the birds are one of the highlights of this Park they deserve special attention.
Considered one of the most important wetlands for aquatic birds in Portugal, during the tour we observe birds like the White Stork, Little Egret and the Spoonbill.
Waders are most abundant especially during winter, although birds like the Whimbrel, the Turnstone and the Grey Plover are a constant presence.
Here you will have the opportunity to see one of the most important economical activities in the Algarve and also very interesting species such as the Black-tailed Godwit (Limosa limosa), the Oystercatcher (Haematopus ostralegus) and many others.

Thanks to Paulou for an enjoyable trip around the Ria Formosa natural park . The tour starts in the harbour and gently ambles through the salt marshes where several species of bird are feeding. Binoculars are provided so they can be seen close up. The tour is adaptable so caters for your needs , we passed many of the islands and stopped for a comfort break where we saw the open sea. I highly recommend this tour if in Faro with time on your hands.

My partner and I loved the 2hour bird watching tour, it provided some great views of Faro and the surrounding lagoon. We also saw plenty of wildlife, storks, herons, spoonbills and more, the time at Faro beach was beautiful and our tour guide Paulo was very friendly and shared a lot of great knowledge and expertise.

An exceptional trip with a knowledgeable guide /skipper who took great care to show us the many different birds to be seen in the lagoon. We saw storks, egret, flamingoes, spoonbills and many others Brilliant and we were even lucky enough to see an osprey. We learned about their habits and migration patterns and questions were patiently answered.
Great value and a memorable experience, would thoroughly recommend it.

Our bird watching was top notch. Paulo was a skilled and very knowledgeable guide. We went to find Flamingos and Paulo found those and Little Egrets, Osprey, Whimbrels, Spoonbills, Grey Heron, Sandwich Term, Cormorants and others. Loved all of the things we learned about high and low tides, lagoons, salt pans and pontoon boats. Thank you Paulo for making our outing so successful. Leslee and Bryan

A brilliant experience. Paulo our guide provided a great introduction to the Ria Formosa natural park, it’s history and how it provides a home for oyster beds as well as birds. We saw a great range of birds including a wonderful view of an Osprey as well as flamingos, white storks, sandwich terns, whimbrils,, spoonbills, grey heron, little egrets, greater black gulls, marsh harriers…….an unforgettable and relaxing experience.

Good bird watching tour with a friendly guide. We had a cancelled tour one day due to bad weather. This was not the company's fault obviously and they offered us an alternative the next day which turned out fine. The tour itself was decent and we saw some nice birds, including plenty of spoonbills.
