A wow-moment in Faro

We were strolling through Faro and saw the announcement and immediately went to the 12pm concert-session-presentation. It was definitely one of the wow-moments of our trip to Faro. Joao took us into the world of Fado music with passion, inspiration and a lot of information. A must-do when in town!
Wonderful gentle introduction to Fado

I definitely enjoyed this. It's a talk and demonstration of Fado, along with some audio-visual components, by a guy who's really passionate about his culture and also plays beautifully. It's held in a small room in the clock tower of the gate into the old city of Faro (you access it through a flight of stairs inside the tourism office). I couldn't think of a better introduction to the subject.
Interesting solo recital. Beautiful playing.

I was lucky to see Joao all to myself on a quiet day in Faro over New Year. A very interesting talk about the story of Fado in this beautiful church location. He is passionate about the national instrument of Portugal and played a variety of tunes wonderfully. Very informative and I have since been listening to more Fado. Recommended!

Excellent introduction to Fado

I really enjoyed this short introduction to Fado. The lecture takes place up in the bell tower of the Old City (next to tourism centre). The instructor is very enthusiastic about this part of Portuguese culture, and is very open to answer all your questions. He also plays beautifully.
